[Brocade]SAN Troubleshooting(10)- Hardware Issue

Fabric OS diagnostics is to evaluate the integrity of the system hardware, Diagnostics are invoked in the one of the following ways:
• Automatically during the power-on self test (POST).
# reboot ===> FOS will execute Reboot with POST
# fastboot ===> FOS will Reboot without POST
You can use the diagDisablePost command to disable both POST1 and POST2, and you can re-enable it using the diagEnablePost command. Refer to the Fabric OS Command Reference.
Problems at POST must be troubleshooted through serial console and Output must be captured with Terminal Emulation Software. For further diagnosis.
• Automatically on an individual blade whenever it is installed into a director chassis.
• Manually using Fabric OS CLI commands.

Below are commands to assist you with the troubleshooting.
# switchshow.
Guess we don’t need to explain. This is almost the must check cmd i use for troubleshooting. note that the details displayed for each switch differ on different switch models.

# switchstatusshow
Use the switchStatusShow command to display the overall status of the switch, including its power supplies, fans, and temperature. If the status of any one of these components is either marginal or down, the overall status of the switch is also displayed as marginal or down. If all components have a healthy status, the switch displays a healthy status.

haShow display information about the status of the High Availability feature in the switch. when standby CP report «Failed» which basically mean the standby CP is running, but the background health diagnostic has discovered a problem with the blade. Check the logs to determine the appropriate action. Failover is disabled until the standby CP is repaired. Information about the failing device in the standby CP is displayed.

# uptime
The uptime command displays the length of time the system has been in operation, the total cumulative amount of uptime since the system was first powered on, and the load average. The reason for the last switch reboot is also recorded in the system message log.
